Government launches plan to solve crisis in Bajo Cauca

At the end of the Council of Ministers that took place in Caucasia, Antioquia, and that was led by President Gustavo Petro, The implementation of a strategy was announced to solve the different problems that affect the small miners who have been holding protests for a month in Bajo Cauca.

“President Gustavo Petro ordered the urgent formation of the technical table that articulates the response and institutional offer for the region. This table will be made up of the Ministries of Mines, Interior, Defense, Technology, Science, Agriculture, Commerce and the Environment”, explained the Minister of the Interior, Alfonso Prada.

Besides, The Ministry of Mines was asked to look for technological alternatives that can be used in the extraction and benefit of gold in the Bajo Cauca region.

He was also given the green light to begin with the review of all mining titles in the area to establish who are the holders of the mining rights and which ones they have in the State.
