Government launches DR Works to promote formal employment and reduce informality

Gobierno lanza RD Trabaja para impulsar el empleo formal y reducir la informalidad

Santo Domingo. The Ministry of Labor launched the program RD Worksa strategy aimed at facilitating the incorporation of people into formal employment through a job training scheme financed by the State, with the aim of reducing informality and strengthening the Dominican labor market.

The initiative establishes that the State will cover the salary of participants during the first three months of training within formal sector companies, a period that will extend up to six months in the case of people with disabilities. During that time, the beneficiaries will be affiliated with the social security system from day one.

When presenting the program, the Minister of Labor, Eddy Olivares Ortegapointed out that RD Work seeks to eliminate barriers to access to formal employment, both for those seeking a job opportunity and for companies that face difficulties in hiring trained personnel.

The plan is aimed at young people between 18 and 35 years old and people over 35 years old, who will receive training directly on the job, allowing companies to train talent according to their real needs and evaluate their performance before final hiring.
