The Government once again presented a new proposal to the various unions that promote the protests against the rise in fuel, consisting of a reduction in the price of Diesel Type III. The leaders will talk with their representatives and will have a new meeting in the next few hours.
The Minister of the Interior, Federico González, confirmed in a press conference that during the meeting held with representatives of various sectors, including truck drivers and other transport sector unions, they were able to download a new proposal with the aim of lifting the force measure.
Although he did not want to delve into details, he said that they had the opportunity to listen to the concerns of these unions and they will be in charge of making this plan known to their associates, who are mobilized in various parts of the country.
“We trust that we are going to reach an agreement,” said González, who said that this is “a broad proposal that shows sincerity and realism.”
Gustavo Benítez, leader of one of the truckers’ unions, confirmed that the government’s proposal consists of reducing the price of Diesel Type 3, which represents 60% of the operating cost for this sector.
“We are in an intermediate room, we are going to meet with our people to see what can be done,” he said when interviewed by the media.
As he mentioned, there is a possibility that the price of this type of fuel can be lowered, although the exact amount of the reduction is not yet known.
This afternoon there will be a new meeting between government authorities and representatives of the carriers.
