Government grants subsidies to companies that hire young people in rehabilitation

The Ministry of Labor and Social Security (MTSS), through the National Employment Directorate (Dinae), and the National Institute for Adolescent Social Insertion (Inisa) signed an agreement based on the Employment Promotion Law. The agreement establishes that companies that hire young people who are in rehabilitation will have access to subsidies for the payment of their salaries, with a ceiling of 30,982 pesos per month for one year.

With this action, it is sought to facilitate the labor insertion of people in the orbit of Inisa, within the framework of support for their entry into private companies, through the modalities included in the Employment Promotion Law.

The agreement was signed this Thursday the 19th at the portfolio’s headquarters, with the presence of the Labor Minister, Pablo Mieres; the national director of Employment, Daniel Pérez; the president of Inisa, Rosanna de Olivera, and the director, Rosario Pérez.

In his speech, Mieres highlighted the Government’s role in achieving the social reintegration of minors in conflict with the law. In this sense, he expressed that, through Law No. 19,973, voted last year in Parliament, it seeks to protect the most vulnerable sectors through job opportunities.

For his part, Pérez explained that, thanks to this agreement, a subsidy will be granted to companies that hire young people who participate in rehabilitation programs at Inisa.

The benefit consists of 60% of the salary when a man is hired and 80% if it is a woman, with a ceiling of 30,982 pesos per month for one year.

De Olivera, meanwhile, highlighted the social responsibility of companies and the MTSS, for supporting his institution, to allow these young people to get opportunities to access formal employment.

Observatory to optimize results

According to the president of Inisa, the recidivism of minor offenders is decreasing. In this sense, a team from the observatory works to measure the statistics and deepen the information.

“We are incorporating a management system to unify all the data and to be able to plan and manage”, indicated De Olivera. He added that the objective of this innovation is to strengthen public policies regarding the juvenile penal system.

Currently, there are 290 adolescents deprived of liberty and 310 with alternative measures. The hierarch assured that the directory tries to adopt alternative measures and advance in the departments in that direction. He indicated that work is being done to implement these actions in Mercedes and Maldonado. “It is a power of Inisa to have all the custodial and non-custodial measures,” he concluded.
