Abinader highlighted that Christmas is a special time to reflect on the past and dream of a better future.
“It is a time to sit down as a family and remember what really matters: our people, our roots, our history,” he stated, calling on citizens to build together a more just and equitable Dominican Republic.
Among the advances highlighted by the president, he highlighted the reduction of poverty: “With the goal of reducing general poverty to 15% and extreme poverty to less than 1%, the Government is moving forward with programs such as Supérate, which are transforming lives.” .
Regarding education as a central axis, the President mentioned programs such as Open and Active Schools, in addition to school health and environmental education strategies, “which not only impact students, but also entire communities.”
He reiterated that the economy is growing and has strengthened in key sectors such as free zones, tourism and exports. He specified that, with the strategies, the country seeks to achieve 15 thousand dollars in per capita income and expand the middle class from 40% to 50% of the population.
Abinader also referred to investment in infrastructure and highlighted emblematic projects such as the Integrated Transportation System in the capital and the monorail in Santiago, “which will make the latter one of the best connected cities in America by 2026.”
He said that their goal is to eradicate hunger by 2028 and “declaring the country free of hunger is not just an aspiration, but a promise backed by concrete actions.”
The President emphasized that these achievements have a clear objective: to improve the quality of life of Dominicans, ensuring drinking water, formal jobs for 80% of university students upon graduation, and access to decent and safe housing.
With a call for unity, Abinader urged Dominicans to dream of a country where progress is a right, not a privilege.
