With activities suspended since Friday (17), Itapemirim Transportes Aéreos will have 24 hours to clarify the stoppage of operations to the Ministry of Justice and Public Security. The company was notified by the National Consumer Secretariat (Senacon) and may be punished based on the Consumer Defense Code.
In addition to asking for information, Senacon required the airline to draw up a service plan for affected passengers. If passengers do not receive assistance or are relocated on other airline flights, Itapemirim may receive administrative sanctions, such as fines.
Among the information requested by Senacon are the reasons why customer service was interrupted, both in person and on electronic platforms and by telephone. Passengers affected by flight cancellations were instructed to look for seats on other airlines by airport officials. Itapemirim did not keep workers in the embarkation and disembarkation terminals, after suspending operations.
According to the National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac), the ITA, as the company is also called, had 513 flights scheduled between Friday and December 31st. The company suspended activities due to an internal restructuring.
