The National Government extended price controls for eight products for six months, including strip steak at $2.55 a pound, premium ground beef $2.15 a pound, whole chicken $1.18 a pound, premium rice 0.40 a pound, powdered milk whole $3.76.
Also included are 14-18 ounce white sandwich bread 0.92 , yellow cheese with less than 65% curd content at $3.00 a pound, and hot dogs containing beef $1.19 a pound.
The Price Control measure was implemented in 2014 and included 22 products: babilla, strip steak, ground beef, shank, brisket with rib, whole chicken, pork chop, sausages, tuna, prime rice, macaroni, sliced bread , onion, yam, potato, perita tomato, yucca, lentils, beans, powdered milk, yellow cheese and eggs.
Meanwhile, Acodeco reported an increase of $13.93 in the basic food basket, which was $289.71, last May.
