After extensive hours of discussion, and after the rejection of the so-called preliminary question requested by the defense of the Secretary of State, the Chamber of Deputies and Deputies rejected the constitutional accusation against the Minister of Social Development and Family, Giorgio Jackson.
Specifically, the Lower House rejected the accusatory libel presented by the Republican Party against the head of Social Development by 68 votes in favor, 76 against and 6 abstentions, which translates into a lifeline for the Government of President Boric.
In this way and with the result in favor of the Secretary of State, the accusation is dismissed and Jackson will continue to exercise his duties within the ministry he heads.

curious case was –again– that of the independent deputy but member of the Humanist Party bench, Mónica Arce, who was the vote that brought down the previous question. This time, she also abstained.
At the end of the session, Minister Jackson thanked “the deputies who took the time and work to review the arguments.”
“Beyond this result, which I take advantage of to thank the parliamentarians, I would like to take advantage of mentioning that after a week and a half in which the Chamber of Deputies has invested valuable time, today we are leaving with the mission of promoting with great strengthen the agendas of the Ministry of Social Development,” he added.
“Today, a process that could have been avoided with other instances of dialogue culminates, but we are also leaving with a learning experience,” he closed.
The debate
After the rejection of the previous question, the republican deputy Johannes Kaiser took the floor, who was in charge of defending the merits of the accusation and the chapters that made it up. More than an hour later, and with pauses in between, the lawyer Claudia Sarmiento spoke again to criticize the merits of the libel.
A long session was expected, which could even end at 7:00 p.m. But everything went ahead and after the interventions of the different parliamentary benches, they proceeded to vote.
