The Ministry of Health reported that 22,090,033 Bolivians were disbursed, in two years, so that, through the Unified Health System (SUS), all free cancer treatments are performed, including high-cost ones.
The resources were allocated to radiotherapy with sedation included when children require it, chemotherapies, oncological surgeriesstudies and complementary tests for diagnosis, palliative care and for the purchase of cytostatic drugs.
International Day Against Childhood Cancer is commemorated every February 15.with the aim of raising awareness of the importance of the challenges faced by children, adolescents and their families in the face of this cruel disease.
“22,090,033 Bolivians have been allocated and For this 2023, 14,248,874 Bolivians are projected for preventiondiagnosis, timely care, treatment, rehabilitation and purchase of medicines for all types of cancer for pediatric patients throughout the country,” reported the head of that office, Jeyson Auza.
In the 2018 and 2019 administrations, the Ministry of Health provided cytostatic drugs for the chemotherapeutic treatment of boys and girls with cancer in pediatric oncology reference centers nationwide, such as; to the Doctor Ovidio Aliaga Uría Children’s Hospital, La Paz; Manuel Ascencio Villarroel Children’s Hospital in Cochabamba; Oncology Institute of the Bolivian East of Santa Cruz and San Juan de Dios Hospital in Tarija.
