The Secretary of Health and Human Development of the Government, Marcelo Kramer, denied that the Neonatal Intensive Care and Intermediate Care Unit at the Children’s Hospital is going to close, as announced in videos published on social networks.
“We want to deny this information, that through videos they have alarmed the population by talking about the closure of the ICU service; but as the Government we deny this, the service will not be closed. There are some problems because the Ministry (of Health) has not provided us with the necessary number of items, The Government has been taking charge of this situation for two years and that will not change,” the authority indicated.
At the same time, he announced that the 2025 management has already been planned, with the number of neonatologists and nurses necessary to provide this service. He added that although there is support from the Ministry of Health, the coverage is not total, so the rest will be covered by the Government.
