After several reports of iinvasion of land in different departments of the countryAs in the north of Cauca, where indigenous people have clashed with various productive sectors, the National Government strongly rejected this situation.

In a speech with several members of the Government, including the Minister of Agriculture Cecilia López and the Vice President Francia Márquez, they showed that there is a commitment to present to Congress a agrarian reform bill.
The foregoing, with the aim of seeking equity in access to land.
The Presidency of the Republic and the Vice Presidency of the Republic warned that those who want to promote invasions hinder the Government’s management and this could result in them being investigated by the authorities.
“As a government we are willing to settle the historical debt that exists in Colombia with those who want to access, through dialogue, but not with violence, this process of democratization of property”said the Presidency of the Republic in a statement.
Márquez also argued that the agrarian reform it seeks equitable distribution of the land but without violence or evasion.
“We do not accept and reject, and we request, those who are today in a violent or inappropriate manner throughout the country, to refrain from that is not the proper way, the way is through a law, for through the actions that we are going to carry out that imply guaranteeing access to land for families, communities, women and peoples”, emphasized the vice president.
Along with this, he showed his total disagreement with the events that have occurred in recent days in the country: “We do not accept, reject and ask those who today are violently or inappropriately invading private properties throughout the country to refrain from continuing to do this practice.“.

In Cauca, it is estimated that there are more than 71 properties affected by invasions since 2014. In addition to this department, in recent days there have also been cases of access to properties in the Valle del Cauca, Cesar and Huila.
The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Cecilia López Montaño, indicated that as a Government they have said that the properties that are in the hands of the Special Assets Society (SAE) will go to the most vulnerable Colombians, who are in areas of high risk, cooperatives, women and young entrepreneurs.
However, it is a complex process since many of these properties are under domain extinction and an analysis must be made for the delivery of the lands in the middle of the equity policy and democratization of property.
Finally, the Minister of Defense, Iván Velásquez Gómez, clarified that the government does not have specific evidence to affirm that these practices are being carried out by groups outside the law.

“We do not have evidence to make that statement, but we do not rule out that this is part of a policy of illegal organizations. There are also groups of peasants, of indigenous people who are in this purpose of occupying land but that, as the Vice President has said, are unacceptable practices for this government. So, the police forces must act to prevent the occupation of these lands and within the following 48 hours, as established by law, take all the measures and carry out the necessary actions to evict them”, indicated the Minister of Defense.
