Hato Mayor.-President Luis Abinader inaugurated this Friday the reconstruction of two public piers and the reconstruction of a sports center in the Hato Mayor province, while in Miches, El Seibo, he delivered the renovation of a sports complex.
The docks are located, one in the municipality of Sabana de la Mar, Hato Mayor, whose reconstruction was carried out by the Ministry of Public Works (MOPC) with an investment of RD$66 million, and the other in the community of Las Cañitas, with an investment of RD$16 million.
The president said he felt “very happy with all the works we are doing” and announced that in about 60 days they would be inaugurating the Hato Mayor – Sabana de la Mar highway.
With the inauguration of the Sabana de la Mar pier, the Government said that it seeks to promote tourism and development in Hato Mayor, with the crossing of passengers and tourists through the bay between this province and Samaná.
While the fishing pier of Las Cañitas seeks to improve the economy of a community that receives about 250,000 tourists a year.
The docking capacity of this dock is 5 catamarans and 16 yolas simultaneously. It has a viewpoint and an access road with 30 bollards for boats, 12 buoys and a slipway with 24 yolas.
The director of the Port Authority, Jean Luis Rodríguez, affirmed that with the reconstruction of the docks at the national level, the lives of some 15,000 families and 75,000 people who benefit directly are being transformed.
Sports facilities in Sabana de la Mar and Miches
Abinader inaugurated the rebuilt Silvano Quezada sports center, in Sabana de la Mar, with an investment of more than RD$19 million.
Meanwhile, in the community of La Gina, in Miches, El Seibo province, the head of state led the inauguration of the renovated sports complex that has a softball stadium, basketball court and children’s park.
The investment for rehabilitation and adaptation of the sports facility was over RD$23 million, according to the MOPC.
The softball stadium has a capacity for more than 150 people, it has two dugouts with capacity for 12 players, a bathroom, a dressing room, lighting poles, among others.

Likewise, President Abinader delivered a check for RD$33 million to the Cooperativa de Servicios Múltiples Sectores Unidos (COOPSECU), represented by Pascual de la Rosa, for the reconstruction and modernization of the rice factory in La Gina, Miches, affected by Hurricane Fiona.
It will benefit 65 producers directly and another 260 indirectly.
The director of FEDA, Hecmilio Galván, reported that the drying, mill, warehouse and reception areas will be rehabilitated.
