Government decrees prohibition of carrying weapons and suspension of carrying weapons from #26Jul

In the framework of the presidential elections, the Government presented the security orders and restrictions that will be applied throughout the country from July 26


The Ministries of Defense and Interior and Justice issued a joint resolution dated July 18 detailing the various security conditions that will govern the country before, during and after the presidential elections on July 28.

Joint decree No. 072 establishes that, between July 26 and 29, the Strategic Operational Command of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (Ceofanb) will issue instructions to the REDI commanders to establish strict control of the border movement of people by air, land and sea, as well as vehicles for border protection.

Likewise, the carrying of firearms and knives is suspended, as is the sale of liquor. The order details that the security forces must close any establishment that incurs in the contempt of selling alcoholic beverages during this time. In addition, meetings, public demonstrations, gatherings of people or any other event that disrupts the electoral process are prohibited.

The transfer, movement, transportation, use or operation of heavy machinery is also prohibited unless there is an event of force majeure, as is the distribution of fireworks. The Secretary of Citizen Security of the state of Falcón, Miguel Morales Miranda, said that the security agencies and the FANB will work in a coordinated manner to guarantee compliance with this resolution.
