Santo Domingo.— President Luis Abinader issued Decree no. 215-25, through which the Migration Policies Observatory was created, a citizen exchange space aimed at strengthening organized surveillance, transparency and civil society participation in the design, monitoring and evaluation of migration policies of the Dominican State.
The Observatory will operate under the dependence of the National Migration Council and will have an Executive Commission headed by Miguel Franjul, appointed by the Executive Power as president of the agency, and coordinated with the Ministry of Interior and Police.

This commission will also be integrated by the rector of the Technological Institute of Santo Domingo (Intec), Julio Sánchez Maríñez; the archbishop of Santiago, Monsignor Héctor Rafael Rodríguez Rodríguez; Pastor Feliciano Lacen Custodio, Executive Director of the Dominican Council of Evangelical Unity (Codue); Jacinto Pichardo, general secretary of the Duartian Institute; Juan Mera, president of the Association for the Development of Santiago; César Dargam Espaillat, Executive Vice President of the National Council of Private Company (CONEP) and Juan Bancalari, President of the Association of Hotels and Tourism of the Dominican Republic (Asonahores). All its members will exercise their functions in an honorable way.
The decree also empowers the Observatory to incorporate new civil society and create permanent work tables with experts and specialists in the field.
With this measure, the government reaffirms its commitment to a more transparent, participatory and aligned immigration policy with national interest.
