By supreme decree, the Government established a Bs 22 million trust fund to support poultry producers in Cochabamba who suffered losses due to bird flu with soft loans. C.With this support, all laying birds will be replaced and the price of eggs will stabilize.
“The government wants to inject resources so that (poultry farmers) can replace all the laying birds that have been lost as soon as possible”, highlighted the Minister of Rural Development and Land, Remmy Gonzáles.
Last Wednesday, the administration of Luis Arce approved Supreme Decree 4962, which authorizes the establishment of a trust to support commercial laying hen producers affected by highly pathogenic avian influenza in the department of Cochabamba.
“As a result of the approval of this trust, It is expected to replace 436,941 baby pullets (commercial laying hens), lachieve an annual production of 137,155,909 eggs and achieve stabilization of the price of eggs at the national level”, highlighted the Ministry of Rural Development.
According to data from the National Agricultural Health and Food Safety Service (Senasag), highly pathogenic avian influenza affected 591,968 birds in 11 municipalities in the department of Cochabamba, mainly in Sacaba and Quillacollo.
The first outbreak of the disease was confirmed on January 27, 2023, after which a contingency plan was activated to contain it. The last recorded outbreak was on March 30.highlighted the Ministry of Rural Development.
With soft loansThe food security of Bolivians will be guaranteed and the economy of that productive sector will be reactivated.
The trust must be established in no more than 30 days and the credits will be granted as operating capital through the Productive Development Bank (BDP). The resources come from the General Treasury of the Nation and must be returned within eight years.
