While from January to June 2022 the local manufacturing registered a year-on-year increase of 4.5%, mainly associated with the favorable performance of the manufacturing of chemical substances and products, manufacturing of beverages and tobacco derivatives, manufacturing of common metals and other food products.

And in 2021 this sector grew 10.6% mainly explained by a greater dynamism in the production volumes of goods related to the manufacture of common metals, non-metallic mineral products, chemical substances and products, as well as the production of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and tobacco derivatives, among others. .

At the end of 2020, the industry had a year-on-year drop of around -6.7%, but these figures were below the average for Latin America and the industry is resilient and has recovered.

The president of the Association of Industries of the Dominican Republic, Celso Juan Marranzini evaluated these two years of government as successful, which has handled the crisis correctly both in times of pandemics and their aftermath, as well as the adverse international environment with Russian and Ukrainian conflicts and the current inflationary moments.
