Government confirms visa exemption to Japan

Government confirms visa exemption to Japan

It’s a reality. Peruvian citizens will be able to travel to Japan freely, without the need to carry a visa from that country, confirmed the Presidency of the Republic.

The government entity specified, through an information note, that the measure was agreed during the recent official visit of the Japanese Prime Minister, Shigeru Ishiba, within the framework of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum (APEC).

“The visa exemption was agreed upon as part of the 2024-2033 Roadmap that seeks to strengthen relations between both countries, which date back 151 years,” said the Presidency.

Likewise, the Presidency indicated that the elimination of the visa “will represent a saving of time by eliminating the cumbersome procedures that must be carried out to obtain authorization.”

Details

As highlighted, with the exemption of the document, the request for a travel itinerary, whether by ship or plane, with precise dates of entry and exit from Japan, will be left aside.

In addition, the presentation of the activity program (which includes accommodation and contact) will be avoided; Sunat and bank documents to demonstrate financial solvency; passport, ID, and others.

The elimination of the visa for Peruvian citizens traveling to Japan is just one of the issues established in the agreement: “Political-Diplomatic; Economic; Bilateral Cooperation; Social and People-to-People Relations, and Defense and Security”, agreed with the country of the rising sun.

This roadmap establishes the creation of a working group that will meet annually to ensure compliance with the signed commitments.
