Government confirms resignation of the director of the Civil Registry Sergio Mierzejewski

The Government of President Gabriel Boric confirmed that the Undersecretary of Justice received the voluntary resignation of the Director of Civil Registry and Identification, Sergio Mierzejewski.

Mierzejewski served from 2018 as Deputy Director of Studies and Development (s) and then as National Director (s) on October 16, 2020, being confirmed in his position on June 11, 2021.

In order to fill his vacancy, “the contest will be opened through Senior Public Management as soon as possible”.

“When I arrived at the Civil Registry, I did it with a personal challenge to contribute to what one knows, that is, in the technological modernization that the service had to do. I always thought that it had to be a limited time, a time in which we had to provide a new infrastructure to the Civil Registry in such a way as to make life easier for people. I’m leaving calmly, I think we’ve achieved it,” Mierzejewski said, according to Financial Journal.

The now former Civil Registry official added that “obviously we have to keep moving forward and I have no doubt that the new director will come with full force and will find a team of officials willing to continue working and continue modernizing.”
