SANTO DOMINGO.– The executive director of the National Institute of Drinking Water and Sewerage (INAPA), Wellington Arnaud, started the relocation work of the sanitary sewerage collector of the municipality of El Seibo, with an investment of RD$80,000,000.
The official stressed that it is a work in demand for more than 20 years, since it affects the health of the citizens, due to the inadequate treatment of the wastewater that is discharged directly into the Seibo River, generating pollution.
He highlighted the courage that President Luis Abinader has had to invest in sanitation; something that past administrations did not do because the pipes cannot be seen, “but it is felt in the health of women and children.”
“Today is an important day for this municipality, which longed to have its wastewater treated and, thanks to the president’s interest, we have started cleaning up this river, in a way that will improve the quality of life of these people,” he assured.
He explained that with this project all the municipal wastewater will be collected and directed to the rehabilitated treatment plant.
The sectors to be affected by this work are La Manicera, Capotillo, El Matadero, Canta Maco, Ginandiana, Mirador Sur, Las Cuchillas, among others.
Also present at the event were Deputy Director Joseph Pilier; the Director of Operations, Luis Popa; the director of Cabinet, Gerónimo Pérez; the Director of Control and Supervision of Works, René García; the regional supervisor, Lenin Carpio; the inter-institutional liaison, Melvin Pilarte; among other executives and collaborators of INAPA.
