Government began meetings with Chile Vamos to address the commemoration of 50 years of the coup

The Government of President Gabriel Boric began the various meetings with the parties of Chile Vamos to discuss the details of the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the coup against Salvador Allende, which gave way to the dictatorship led by Augusto Pinochet.

At about 3:00 p.m. last Tuesday, the general secretary of Evópoli, Juan Carlos González, went to the offices of the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage to hold a meeting with the minister Julieta Brodsky and the ex-conventional Patricio Fernandez.

After the appointment, the general secretary of Evópoli indicated that Brodsky “explained in general terms the central concepts that inspire this activity, and that they are looking to value the importance of democracy and human rights, and that in the future we always take care our institutionality”.

“From Evópoli we made him see that it is a new party, of the liberal center right, in which more than 75% of its militants are under 50 years of age. Our vision is of the future, and we value democracy, institutionality and respect for human rights,” González added.

On the other hand, the representative of Evópoli asked the head of Culture that “later she could inform us in greater detail about the scheduled activities, and we urged her that the Government avoid polarizing this commemoration and that it try to find a space for dialogue and broad convocation , with a more historical than political look, that is projected towards the future rather than towards the past”.

“In general, I would say that it was a meeting without many details, but it gives hope for a sober, convening and thoughtful commemoration,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Secretary of State emphasized that “the doors of this ministry (Culture) are open to all who feel called upon to talk about this commemoration. We are interested in the opinions of all sectors and we have coordinated meetings that will be held soon. I insist , the doors of this ministry are open”.

It should be noted that in the coming days it is expected that other meetings of a similar nature will take place with representatives of Renovación Nacional (RN) and the Unión Demócrata Independiente (UDI), to address details of the commemoration.
