Days past, the Executive approved a resolution by which it authorizes the sale through the public auction procedure of the real estate “Sounión” of the cadastral locality of Playa Verde in Maldonado.
The resolution of the Presidency establishes that said procedure will be carried out through the National Association of Auctioneers, Appraisers and Real Estate Brokers, which will organize and execute the auction.
The resolution recalls that by the judgment of October 2020 issued by the Specialized Organized Crime Court, the confiscation of the aforementioned property was ordered in favor of the National Drug Board as a result of Balcedo being charged with the crime of “laundering of assets, a crime of internal trafficking of firearms and money laundering in a real reiteration regime with a crime of smuggling”, and his wife Paola Fiege a crime of “money laundering in a real repetition regime with a crime of smuggling ”.
It is by virtue of the provisions of current regulations that the National Drug Board has ownership and availability of the assets seized in its favor.
Balcedo and Fiege are serving house arrest in the other chalet they own, “El Gran Chaparral” (almost three kilometers from Sounión), on the Cerro de los Burros.
