Santo Domingo. – President Luis Abinader issued decree 488-24 in which he appoints Ligia Jeannette Pérez Peña as executive president of the National Council for Children and Adolescents (CONANI) already Maritza Altagracia Lopez Castaños de Ortizpresident of the Institute for Cooperative Development and Credit (IDECOOP).
The aforementioned decree indicates that Decree No. 506-22, of September 12, 2022, and Article 47 of Decree No. 339-20, of August 16, 2020, are hereby repealed.
Ligia Jeanette Perez Pena
Pérez Peña holds a degree in Educational Sciences, Magna Cum Laude, from UNPHU. She also holds an International Master’s degree in University Management from the University of Alcalá, Spain. She also has a Master’s degree in Education, with a Mention in Educational Planning, from UTESA, and a specialty in Educational Planning and Management from the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM).
She also has experience as Vice Minister of Decentralization and Participation of the Ministry of Education (Minerd), Vice Minister of Technical and Pedagogical Services of Minerd and Academic Vice Chancellor of the University of the Caribbean.

Maritza Lopez de Ortiz
López de Ortiz holds a degree in Business Administration from the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM) and a Master’s Degree in Senior Public Management from the Ortega y Gasset University Research Institute in Spain.
She also received the Medal of Merit, awarded by the Ministry of Women in 2018, and her recent recognition as a Heroine of Everyday Life by the Council of Aldermen of the National District City Council in 2023.
