Government appoints journalist Andrea Fresard as the new president of the TVN board

The Government of the President, Gabriel Boricappointed the journalist and former communications director of the National Television Council, Andrea Fresardas the new president of the TVN board.

Through a press release, the Executive informed about the decision, where the 49-year-old journalist will assume the presidency of the board of directors of the state signal. It should be remembered that this measure is direct and should not have the approval of another state power, unlike the presence of Rodrigo Cid in the same directory, which must have the consent of Congress.

Fresard is a journalist from the Andrés Bello University and a professor at the Diego Portales University. Between 2001 and 2004 she became the first head of Communications of the National Television Council (CNTV), being responsible for creating the communications area of ​​the regulatory body for open signal television channels.

In 2004, he assumed the position of Head of Communications and Public Relations of Chilevisionwith the task of reformulating the communication policy of the signal.

She was the Communications manager at the launch of the channel CNNChilebeing the first 24/7 news channel in the country.

Andrea Fresard has been a teacher since 1996, being a professor at the Diego Portales (UDP) and Central universities and in the Master of Public Policy at the School of Government of the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile.

She currently works as head of Communications and Public Affairs at the Chilean Museum of Pre-Columbian Art, and is also part of the Committee for the Defense of Public Television (CDT).

She has also worked as an independent consultant for different international organizations, such as UN Women; the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Government Laboratory, among other organizations.
