The administration of Nicolas Maduro reported that it plans to provide the Caracas Metro with Internet connection in stations, platforms and cars starting next year, as part of the program to modernize the underground transportation system.
The information was disclosed by the executive vice president, Delcy Rodríguez, during an inspection of the plan “Metro Moves With You!” carried out at the Zona Rental and Plaza Venezuela stations.
Rodríguez assured that the balance of the program “is positive”, highlighting that “the 48 stations that make up the 5 Lines of the Caracas Metro were recovered.” According to the vice president, the Government is advancing “new contributions” aimed at optimizing the operation and services of the subway.
Among those initiatives, he announced a Internet Connectivity Plan for the Metrowith which the administration hopes that “by the middle of next year, on all platforms, in all stations we will be able to have connectivity, including the carriages.” He added that the project will have an approximate execution of one year, “so that we have 100% Internet and data use within the Metro stations.”
Transportation modernization
The official also stated that the work “does not stop” and that they are advancing in the process of modernizing Caracas mass transportation, with the aim of improving the user experience and progressively recovering the system’s infrastructure.

Although the government assures progress, users denounce that the recovery remains insufficient and unequal.
The new Internet plan is presented as one of the Executive’s emblematic projects for the transportation system, which seeks to show improvements amid citizen pressure for more efficient public services.
