The Minister of Public Security, Juan Manuel Pino Forero, received from the Coalition of Unity for Colon (CUCO), the parameters for the formation of the Social Axis of Comprehensive Development of Citizen Security, which represents a joint effort between the citizens of Colon and the Government, for the future of the province of Colón.
Upon receiving the proposal, the head of this portfolio pondered the work and interest of the sectors grouped in the CUCO, by forming a strategic alliance with the Ministry of Public Security, to take a decisive step in addressing the social situation of the province .
“With initiatives such as the World Cup in the Neighborhood, which brought children to Costa Rica, we have succeeded in teaching the right path through sports, responsibility and teamwork. That experience changed the lives of these children, turning them into people who have a future. That is the goal we are seeking, and where we want to go. Improving Colon society is the challenge and we are ready to take the next step,” said Minister Pino.
The various sectors of the province of Colón, social, educational, the University of Panama, along with professionals in psychology, social work and other areas of knowledge, expressed their satisfaction at having consolidated this initiative, whose objective is to ensure that children , adolescents and the family can develop in an environment of safety, social equity and cultural relevance.
During the meeting, the progress made in the social axis pilot plan was presented, with the well-being of Colonense society as a premise.
Sociologist Gilberto Toro highlighted the institution’s willingness, in the person of the institution’s chief inspector, Clovis Sinisterra, to carry out the work project with the people of Colon, opening these conversations, in a framework of credibility, trust and respect.
Toro said that a field investigation dynamic was added to the social diagnosis of the province, with which it has been possible to quickly establish the situation of very difficult conditions for Colón, where there has been a notable social degradation and neglect in the last 15 years.
“The mystery of Public Security has understood that Colón needs hard social work, that breaks schemes and arrives with a unique, clear and true vision,” he said.
