SANTO DOMINGO.- The senator of the Dominican Liberation Party and member of its Political Committee, Yván Lorenzo, said that after the culmination of its eighth Congress yesterday Sunday, that political organization is ready to take to the streets to regain power.
“After our Eighth José Joaquín Bidó Medina Congress, the Dominican Liberation Party is “oiled” to travel the entire national geography to bring awareness to citizens so that they can equate the management of the PLD government versus the failure that constitutes the government of the PRM”, explained Lorenzo.
Interviewed on the Despierta RD program, the spokesman for the bloc of PLD senators pointed out that during the Congress all the party structures were renewed and the new provincial, municipal, district and constituency authorities were chosen.
“The PLD is a unique party in America”, as its historical leader and founder Professor Juan Bosch called it, I added that it is the largest party in Latin America”, added the senator of the province Elías Piña.
He stressed that after the culmination of the Congress and purged its electoral roll, it has registered 1 million 200 thousand members, recalling that in the citizen consultation to elect the most preferred presidential candidate, more than half a million people voted.
On the other hand, Lorenzo questioned the large sums of money from the treasury that the PRM government is using to purchase mayors, councilors, directors, and political activists.
“That money belongs to the Dominican people who discount it through the payment of taxes,” stressed the legislator, warning that “this little money when they audit it creates torment.”
He expressed that this government has deteriorated the living conditions of Dominicans and that the people will collect it at the polls in the next elections.
He revealed that the government is buying portfolio polling firms, since the numbers do not give it, since the reality is that it is around 40 percentage points and hence its desperation buying political leaders.
