The representative of the national government for the political dialogue process, Jorge Rodríguez, and the representative of the Unitary Platform, Gerardo Blyde, participated this Wednesday in the Forum in Oslo, Norway, on conflict mediation and peace processes.
“We salute the presence at the Oslo Forum of Jorge Rodríguez, representing the Government, and Gerardo Blyde, representing the Unitarian Platform delegation; We hope that efforts will continue in the short term to resume dialogue and negotiation in Venezuela,” the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Twitter.
In the image shared by the Norwegian Foreign Ministry, Rodríguez and Blyde appear accompanied by Teresa Whitfield, an expert in humanitarian affairs and an official of the United Nations (UN) Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs; and Dag Nylander, Norway’s head of mediation in the dialogue between the Government and the opposition.
The Kingdom of Norway is one of the facilitators of the dialogue between the Government and the Unitary Platform in Mexican territory, which was suspended since last October after confirming the extradition from Cape Verde to the United States of the Venezuelan diplomat, Alex Saab.
This year’s Oslo Forum, which took place from Tuesday to Wednesday, was attended by some 100 conflict mediators, high-level decision-makers, experts and peace process actors from around the world,
In this edition the topics of discussion included the Middle East, Ukraine, Afghanistan, Yemen, Venezuela and Ethiopia, as well as other areas of conflict, according to the Norwegian Foreign Ministry.
On May 17, Jorge Rodríguez and Gerardo Blyde They met in Caracas in an attempt to resume political dialogue under international auspices.
