The Secretary of Domestic Trade, Roberto Feletti, and representatives of the bakery sector of the province of Buenos Aires, managed to reach an agreement to establish a ceiling on the price of bread.
This because this food has been one of those that has had the most increases in the last year, and after the negotiation it was agreed that the price of bread French will go from $180 to $220 per kilo.
The value will depend on the location of the premises; Despite this, the parties agreed that “there is no reason that justifies a final price of the bread above those values”.
At the meeting, where the undersecretary of Actions for the Defense of Consumers, Liliana Schwindt, was also present, there was also talk of building a work table to take care of prices.
This in order not to further affect the pockets of Argentines, as well as the consumption of food, since with inflation, several products have increased since last year.
In addition, from the Secretary of Internal Trade they also announced that this Thursday there will be another meeting with members of the Bakery Industrial Federation of the Province of Buenos Aires to talk about the subject.
Since this Monday the price of bread has increased
As a consequence of the high costs of raw materials and inputs, From this Monday the price of bread increased between 20% and 25%.
With this latest increase, this food has had a rise of $100 in the last year, as a result of inflation.
Bakers noted that, in just weeks, eggs increased 30%; sugar 33%; plastics and paper 10%; yeast by 35%, so they have no choice but to raise rates.
The most worrying thing is that this situation, in addition to affecting the consumption of breadalso at risk is the permanence of several bakeries, which today struggle against high production costs to keep their doors open.
