The Government of the President Gabriel Boricannounced this Saturday that he accepted the resignation presented by Ruben Lopez in charge as Seremi of Agriculture of the Tarapacá region.
Through a statement published on the website of the Department of agriculture, pointed out in this regard that “We appreciate your commitment, we value and respect your decision”. They also indicated that Natalia Ortega-Oseswill assume the position in subrogation.
Ortega is a forestry engineer from the University of Chile, who until now works as Regional Director of Conaf in the Tarapacá region.
The reasons for López’s resignation from his position were not specified, but this happened when during this week it was verified that a Seremi official was the leader of a dismantled drug trafficking gang in Aysén.
As stated Emol, andThe leader of this gang is Adolfo Saez, who ran for councilor for Iquique in 2016 representing the extinct Poder party. According to the Aysén prosecutor’s office, Sáez supplied the illicit substances.
Apart from Sáez, eight other people are in the quality of defendants and were formalized last Thursday in the Coyhaique Guarantee Court. However, the process was suspended until Sunday, where they are charged with the crimes of drug trafficking, illicit association, misappropriation and fraud.
