The National Government appointed Martha Hernandez Arango as the person in charge of the direction of Migration Colombia after the resignation of Fernando García Manosalva.

The appointment of Arango, who served as deputy director of the entity, was ratified with the issuance of the decree 1208 of 2024with which García’s departure is also accepted. The document was signed by Paola Andrea Vásquez, general secretary and person in charge of the functions of the office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
As indicated in the decree, the new director in charge will become the head of Migration Colombia “without detaching themselves from the functions of their position, while the head of the job is appointed.”

It should be remembered that Fernando García assumed the direction of this entity in September 2022 and He lasted two years in the immigration authority.
García Manoslava is investigated by the Attorney General’s Office for his alleged responsibility for irregularities that were committed when signing a contract for the printing of immigration cards. The indictment arrived on July 3, 2024.
Despite this, it has been pointed out that his resignation responds to reasons of “personal nature.”
