As of this Wednesday (12), users of the Gov.Br application began to be notified about the expiration of their passport. The novelty is a partnership between the Ministry of Management and Innovation in Public Services (MGI) and the Federal Police (PF).
According to the government, personalized notifications are sent through the application’s mailbox service at three times:
- When there are eight months left before the due date,
- Three months until the end of validity and
- With the expired document.
The expectation is that, in 2026, messages will be sent to more than 1.9 million people to remind them to renew their passports.
To access these messages, users must have a Silver or Gold level account on the service platform.
“This is an initiative that simplifies people’s lives and strengthens trust in the institution,” said the director general of the Federal Police, Andrei Augusto Passos Rodrigues, in a statement.

PO Box
The Gov.Br application’s PO Box, available since February, allows personalized government information to be sent to each person using the platform.
Since the beginning of the PO Box, more than 30 million personalized messages have been sent about services such as the National High School Exam (Enem), Unified National Public Competition (CNU), Bolsa Verde, Meu SUS Digital, Issuance of Digital Certificates and Nest Egg.
Platform
Currently, the platform developed by the federal government has 4,600 federal digital services and another 8,700 state and municipal services. Among the most used by Brazilians are Assinatura Gov.Br, Meu INSS, Meu SUS Digital, Enem, Fies, Digital Work Card and Digital Traffic Card.
Services are normally available to those with Silver and Gold level accounts.
The Silver level is possible through facial recognition to match the photo with the National Driving License (CNH). It is also possible to have an account of this level by validating your data in one of the 17 banks accredited on the platform.
To have a Gold account, which allows access to any digital public service and guarantees broad security for citizens, it is necessary to perform facial recognition based on data from the Electoral Court or using the QR Code on the National Identity Card (CIN).
