200 women from northern Argentina, between 18 and 25 years old, will be trained in the development of digital skills by the NGO Junior Achievement and Google, through a scholarship program, so that they can finally access jobs related to new technologies.
The program, promoted by Google.org, will invest US$100,000 to award scholarships for the Career Certificates of Google to women. This is arranged from computer giant because “unemployment affects about 20% of the young population and the numbers worsen in the most vulnerable sectors,” according to the company.
Bernardo Brugnoli, director of Junior Achievement in Argentina, pronounced in consonance with Google: “The certifications we offer provide endless opportunities for young people. We know that the technology sector has great potential and we are making a huge effort to expand the scope and scale of our offer so that many more can take advantage of it to transform their future.”
Lucas Ansaldo, Marketing Director for Brand Reputation and SMEs at the company Latin America, mentioned: “For 15 years, in Google Argentina we invest in education and learning to democratize access to technology at the federal level. That is why we are very happy to once again join forces with Junior Achievement, through our financial support for the development of digital skills that allow more women to access their first qualified job.”
During the years 2020, 2021 and 2022, Junior Achievement and Google.org sponsored more than 550 students in vulnerable situations. Of these, more than 40% are already working for the technology industry (IT) sector in technical support, help desk, system administration, tester and development roles.
Certificate scope
Upon completion of the study program and certification, graduates have the opportunity to submit their resume with more than 10 companies committed to including them as candidates in their searches to fill vacancies in areas of IT technical support (technology industry).
Accenture, BairesDev, Cognizant, Cognizant Soft Vision, Delta Air Lines, Gire, Google Argentina, Havas, IPG Media Brands, ManpowerGroup, Mercado Libre, Naranja, SAP, among others, are the companies that hire graduates.
