There was a good tourist season and expectation due to the proximity of the carnival
From the Tourism Area of the Government of Cerro Largo they evaluated the development of the current summer season in the main tourist attraction centers of the department.
As for the capital city, the greatest expectation is the celebration of the next carnival.
“We are having a quite productive summer, very good for the people who have been able to work in all places. Internal tourism has moved a lot. In La Laguna, meanwhile, we have seen a lot of Brazilian tourists, many people from Salta and Roche who came to our beautiful resort.” stood out Lizet Ruiz.
He specified that the second half of January, although it did not have the same movement as the first 15 days, the dynamics have also been good. “It has been smaller, but we have seen quite a few people, mainly on weekends” he remarked at a press conference.
February is a month that is loaded with activities of different types throughout the department. “This weekend the Rio Branco Festival and the Dragon Pass Festival stand out” projection. “Activities throughout Cerro Largo as always, and increasingly betting more heavily on the turnout of people who want to go out, who have seen that this Departmental Government has gone all out with these activities and events” express.
The Municipal Cabins in Laguna were full during the first half of January. Although there are now some free, the occupation is still important. “At the Hotel del Lago there have been quite a few people, even though, according to what we spoke with the owner, it has not met expectations because it has not been fully booked like in previous years. Yes, there has been a large flow of tourists that we hope will be more important in the coming days with everything that is coming.” said the person in charge of the Tourism Area of the Municipality of Cerro Largo.
For carnival, 3 excursions have already been confirmed that will arrive from the country’s capital. “The hotels here are full with reservations. We expect a large turnout as has always happened” said.
“We are facing the first carnival of the current Administration, which generates a lot of expectations. We are fully loaded and the entire team is working hard, from the Mayor who never stops to the rest of our fellow Directors and Managers” Lizet Ruiz stressed.
Of the three excursions that will arrive during carnival week, two will go directly to the interior of the department: one to Río Branco and the other to Laguna Merín. “The idea is to do shopping tourism, tour the Laguna, then they want to do a cultural tour in Melo visiting Posta del Chuy, Casa de Juana Museum and Regional Historical Museum” he assured.
“Let’s see what other places we can offer. Right now they are asking a lot about Estancia El Cordobés, which is closed to the public waiting to be restored.” he concluded.
