Edmundo González Urrutia was received in Panama by the chancellor of that country, Javier Champa, along with his counterparts from Costa Rica and Uruguay
Edmundo González Urrutia closed his tour in the United States, where he was unable to meet with President-elect Donald Trump, to continue his tour of the region, arriving in Panama on the night of Tuesday, January 7.
Through his social networksGonzález Urrutia published images in which the flag of Venezuela is seen with a protocol card indicating that the head of state of the Central American country, José Raúl Mulino, receives him as president-elect.
In that sense, he said he felt honored to be in a country “that fights for democracy and that has received so many Venezuelans,” he wrote.

He was received by the chancellors of Costa RicaArnoldo André; from Panama, Javier Champa and from Uruguay, Omar Paganini; as well as the former presidents of the IDEA Group.
There, the former presidents reiterated to González Urrutia to continue accompanying him in his journey to seek to be sworn in as president in Venezuela; despite threats from those in power to treat them as “invaders” and “put them in prison.”

González Urrutia is scheduled to meet this Wednesday, January 8 in Panama with the president of this country, José Raúl Mulino, and also with foreign ministers and former Latin American presidents to “reclaim Venezuelan and American democracy.” The Guatemalan vice chancellor, Mónica Bolaños Pérez, will be in the group.

González Urrutia repudiates the arrest of his son-in-law
In another message, Edmundo González Urrutia reproached the arbitrary arrest of his son-in-law, Rafael Tudares, and said that this corresponds to a forced disappearance.
In that sense, he assured that the fight he leads is also “for all the kidnapped, the disappeared and the tortured.”

Earlier his daughterMariana González de Tudares, issued a statement in which she reported that her son-in-law was intercepted by hooded men, dressed in black, and put in a gold-colored truck; wondering that since when has it been a crime to be a relative of the ambassador as well.
González Urrutia’s daughter stressed in her statement that her children will feel the absence of their father, as more than 2,000 relatives of political prisoners who were detained after July 28 have felt, “and for whom the only crime that can be attributed to them “It is to be faithful to its democratic values and long for positive change for our Venezuela.”
