After learning over the weekend that the National Executive Committee of the Democratic Revolutionary Party has reserved 144 posts for popular election positions and that they will not be submitted to the primary, Pedro Miguel González, in an interview with Radio Panama said that this is to give way free to the current deputies or some favorites of the executive.
“They are not making exceptions for reasons of alliance when they are making exceptions, for example, for the seven seats in San Miguelito or the two seats in Bocas del Toro where both are PRD deputies, the two from Penonomé, for example, Santiago where historically we have won two deputies in several elections, the two seats have exempted him, obviously it is to give free passage to the current deputies or some favorites of the executive or of this political leadership and that is why we have announced a proposal like this, we are going to challenge it ”, Gonzalez said.
The positions that they have reserved and that will not go to primaries are 52 positions for deputy, 33 positions for mayor and 59 for representatives, making a total of 114 positions with exceptions.
Regarding the presence of Vice President Gaby Carrizo in different official acts, knowing that he will be a candidate in the primaries, González said that “as of February 1, the ban begins for this type of situation and next February 5 is the date we have heard that the vice president will make the announcement of his presidential candidacy, I suppose that he is taking advantage of these last days to see if that helps him in anything, I doubt it ”.
On Sunday, February 26, the national leadership of the movement where Pedro Miguel González is will meet to decide and announce the presidential candidacy of his movement for the internal elections of the PRD.
