René Alvarenga, inspector of the penitentiary, announced that the detainees first went through the Sanitation of the prison to know the state of health they enjoy, and then they went to the admission pavilion where they will be around 12 days. They will be here until they define in which pavilion they will be transferred. Taking into account that they could receive some threats from certain inmates.
On September 3, the Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice (CSJ) declared Daher’s defense appeal inadmissible regarding the 15-year sentence for the former sports leader and five years for his son González Karjallo.
Both convicted have already served six months in prison for the case, so they have 14 and a half years and four and a half years left, respectively. Daher, at the seventh year, will be able to request temporary releases and at the age of 11 he will be able to request parole.
Federico Campos López Moreira, a lawyer for the victims of the Daher, affirmed that they will continue to stand guard so that the convicted do not have privileges in the prison.
CONTEXT
On December 10, Ramón González Daher was sentenced to 15 years in prison for the crimes of usury, money laundering and false accusation. His son, Fernando González Karjallo, was sentenced to five years in prison for money laundering.
The sentencing court also established the confiscation of the assets of both defendants for US$ 47 million. The oral and public trial began on October 11 and ended on December 10.
Said court specialized in economic crimes was made up of judges; Claudia Criscioni, Yolanda Morel and Yolanda Portillo. The former president of the APF, in complicity with his son, gave usurious loans to a total of 156 people. Those who had to go through bad times since, in the event of non-compliance with payments, the interests received more additional interest, making the credits unpayable.
Along with this situation, González Daher must face another oral trial for false accusation and extortion. The decision was made on August 18, by Jennifer Ynsfrán, a judge from Luque. The prosecutor in this case is Sandra Ledesma. The sports leader Salvador Aquino, former sports delegate of Ricardo Brugada’s 3 de Febrero club, was the victim of this case.
He himself denounced that Daher tried to collect from him an already paid debt of G. 46.5 million. In December of last year, shortly after his historic conviction for loansharking, he was charged with false statement. In March, the fiscal agent expanded the complaint with the alleged act of extortion.
