The fifth district court of amparo in criminal matters in Mexico City denied the television host Inés Gómez Mont, the request that the arrest warrant against her for the crime of operations with resources of illicit origin be left unsubstantiated.
Judge Patricia Marcela Diez Cerda determined that the Specialized Unit for the Investigation of Operations with Resources of Illicit Origin and Counterfeiting or Alteration of Currency acted correctly. She pointed out that the crime was not constituted by the abstention from paying the taxes for the fiscal year of 2016, but the possibility that there are funds, rights or assets that come in some way from the commission of a crime.
Gómez Mont is accused of several charges, however, this case is apart from the accusation of the Public Ministry that states that she, together with her husband, Víctor Manuel Álvarez Puga, are related to the diversion of 2 thousand 950 million pesos obtained through contracts assigned from the Ministry of the Interior directly to shell companies during the past federal administration.
