The Cuban Yarisleidis Cirilo was confirmed this Friday as one of the main figures of the rafting internationally, by winning gold in the World Cup in Szeged, Hungary.
The young Guantanamo, barely 21 years old, won the title in the C1-200 meters, a triumph that she dedicated to her mother on the occasion of the upcoming Mother’s Day, reports the digital site Hit.
Cyril, that in 2022 was awarded as the best athlete of the year in Cuba, she clocked 45.99 seconds and was followed by the Canadian Katie Vincent (46.10) and the Spanish Antia Jacome (46.83).
“I was close to the Canadian, but with a little more effort the desired result came out,” said the winner, who had also achieved the best time among all the competitors in the semifinals.
His partner Mailienys Ávila did not reach the final A, but managed to register in the final B, to meet the forecasts of the technicians, says the specialized publication.

For his part, José Ramón Pelier did manage to be included in the final A of the C1-1000 by marking 4:01.21 minutes in the semifinals. Thanks to this, this Saturday he will go for one of the medals.
In the final B will be the kayaker Yurieni Guerra in the K1-500, while her partner Robert Benítez will go to the final E in the K1-1000, adds Hit.
The sports publication points out that this Saturday the Olympic champion Serguey Torres and his current drummer partner will debut in the C2-500 m, Tabiani Diéguez. Torres himself will also compete in the C1-5000.
Canoeing is one of the sports with the greatest results and prospects for Cuba today.
Last year Cirilo together with Katherin Nuevo was crowned in the C-2 at 200 meters at the Halifax World Championship, while Torres, Tokyo 2020 Olympic champion in the two-seater canoe, achieved the subtitle in the C1-5000.
In addition, Cuban canoeists won several scepters and medals in the various World Cups held.
