LBrazilian airline GOL announced that it will offer three weekly direct flights between RIOgaleão international airport (Rio de Janeiro) and Montevideo from December 24 to January 31, in high season. The route will benefit Cariocas seeking attractions in Montevideo and places such as Punta del Este and Colonia del Sacramento, and Uruguayans heading to the Marvelous City and the coast of the state of Rio de Janeiro.
Seasonal flight G3 9456 will depart from RIOgaleão (GIG) at 11 p.m. and land at Carrasco International Airport (MVD) at 2:05 a.m. (local time) on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. The return trip from Montevideo will take place on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays: flight G3 9457 will take off at 4:15 am and land in Rio de Janeiro at 7:10 am (local time). The operations will be carried out with GOL’s Boeing 737-800, which has a capacity for 176 passengers.
RIOgaleão-Montevideo is a route that does not exist in the market todaybut what will be relaunched exclusively for the high season summer (before the pandemic, GOL could operate three return flights a week).
“The RIOgaleão-Montevideo seasonal route represents comfort and speed both for customers from Rio de Janeiro and Uruguay, during the busiest period of leisure travel. The flight schedules were designed to also benefit passengers who go -by air or land connection- to places other than the capitals of Rio de Janeiro and Uruguay”, said the director of Strategic Planning of the Airline Network of GOAL, Bruno Balán.
Currently, the company offers two daily roundtrip flights between Guarulhos international airport (GRU) and Montevideo (MVD), and during the high season, it will also offer departures between Salvador (SSA) and the Uruguayan capital. GOL is the airline with the largest offer of flights between Brazil and Uruguay.
