Gol reported that the entire procedure followed the strictest safety protocols and that, after the runway was cleared, the aircraft resumed its position and landed safely at 10:05 am. According to the company, the go-around is a normal and safe maneuver, which allows pilots to start a new approach under more favorable conditions, as in this case.

Latam, in turn, said it did not register any irregularities in the operation of this or any other flight on Monday.

Sought by the report, Infraero, responsible for Congonhas Airport, advised that contact should be sought with the Airspace Control Department (Decea), an agency linked to the Air Force responsible for controlling Brazilian airspace, provider of air navigation services that enable flights and the ordering of air traffic flows in the country.

The Air Force Command informed that it is investigating the fact that occurred today, at 9:54 am, at Congonhas Airport.

When asked about the occurrence of a failure, the Air Force replied that the go-around is a safe and foreseeable procedure, carried out when necessary. “It consists of an action in which the pilots interrupt the descent trajectory towards a certain runway, in order to maintain the safety of the aircraft operation.”

The Air Force Command added that this maneuver is always a safe option in the event of adverse weather, certain operational factors and unforeseen occurrences, and that it can be initiated by the crew’s decision or by request from air traffic control.
