Now, in the semifinals, Papão will star in the classic with Remo (who advanced with a victory over São Raimundo-RR) in search of a place in the big decision. The other finalist will come out of the confrontation between Esmeraldino and Cuiabá (which left Vila Nova along the way).
After a goalless draw away from home, in the first leg of the quarterfinals, Goiás arrived in a comfortable situation to measure forces with Brasiliense. And the team from Goiás managed to qualify in the 90 minutes of regular time, thanks to a goal by the Argentinean Palacios in the 12th minute of the first half.
Who had the most difficulties to reach the classification was Paysandu, who, after drawing again without goals with Princesa do Solimões, sought a place in the penalty shootout. And in the maximum penalties, Papão had the efficiency of its collectors and a defense by goalkeeper Thiago Coelho to triumph by 5 to 3.
