Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino López responded to the United States Southern Command for its manifest interest in Latin American resources.
In this sense, Padrino López expressed that the region “is no longer a piece of land to loot.”
“The empire is right about the amount of strategic resources that this region has. But Latin America is no longer a piece of land to plunder. Here an emerging geopolitical bloc is being built that will be key in the construction of a New Multipolar World Order,” she said in the tweet, which contains a video of the head of the United States Southern Command, Laura Richardson.
Specifically, the defense minister’s statement is based on recent statements by the head of the US Southern Command, Laura Richardson, who pointed out the reasons why the Latin American region is of vital interest to Washington.
In an interview with the Atlantic Council institute, reviewed by RT, Richardson pointed out that the water, lithium, oil, copper, gold and the Amazon of Latin America matter to the United States.
In this regard, he explained that all these resources and elements have a lot to do with “the national security of the United States”, and therefore “we have to start our game.”

Richardson said that in the Latin American region “we have 31% of the world’s fresh water.”
On the other hand, “60% of the world’s lithium, in the lithium triangle: Argentina, Bolivia, Chile.”
Likewise, the concentration of “the largest oil reserves”, including those of “light and sweet crude discovered off Guyana more than a year ago”, and the resources of Venezuela, with oil, copper, gold”.
In addition, the head of the Southern Command referred to the importance of the Amazon, “the lungs of the world.”
