The Minister for Defense, Vladimir Padrino López, indicated that the exercises and deployment in various states seek to “maintain daily life and avoid strategic paralysis,” as well as to prepare for a possible attack by the United States.
The Minister of Defense, Vladimir Padrino López, insisted that the 27 tasks of the “Independence 200” plan ordered by Nicolás Maduro must be fulfilled during the deployments and exercises by various states to defend the homeland against a possible attack by the United States.
“This is a fundamental task to check food reserves, hospital availability, the use of community radios and all available means of communication, the defense of cities, execution of maritime patrols, airports, documentation of all military means and their deconcentration,” the minister indicated this Friday, October 10, through a message on his Telegram account.
This Friday, the states of Aragua, Falcón and Zulia joined this national defense plan, with the purpose, according to Padrino López’s statements, of “maintaining daily life and avoiding strategic paralysis.” He insisted that “they are tasks that we have to carry out to move the national muscle.”
In recent days, he indicated that these 27 tasks also seek to maintain internal control of his forces, between his troops and senior military commanders.
The minister affirmed, once again, that the authorities are doing everything within their power “to avoid war and preserve peace.”
Venezuela undertakes these actions after Donald Trump’s administration deployed military equipment to the Caribbean to fight drug trafficking, which it claims leaves from the south towards its country. However, Maduro considers that the true objective of the US is to achieve regime change in the country.
To date, US military forces have annihilated five boats that they claim were loaded with drugs bound for North America. Some 21 people have supposedly died in these operations.
