‘God takes care of our sore country’: candidates regret death of Miguel Uribe

The morning of this Monday was marked by the confirmation of the death of the presidential candidate and senator Miguel Uribe Turbay, who lost his life after an attack perpetrated against him.

The news, broadcast in the early hours of the day, generated an immediate wave of reactions in the political sphere. Colleagues from different games and ideological currents expressed their dismay and regrethighlighting his public career and the impact that his absence will have on the electoral landscape.

One of the first reactions that were received was that of the candidate Vicky Davila who said that Miguel Uribe was a great illusion that turned off the bullets. “Miguel, you are already in heaven, all of Colombia has you in your heart. Thanks for your fight. To the Uribe Turbay family, all love. God takes care of our sore country”, He posted on his social networks.

In turn, also the candidate, Sergio Fajardo, gave a farewell to the senator in his X account indicating: “Rest in peace Miguel. A good man, who loved our country and handed him his life. Condolences for his wife and children, his relatives, his companions and political followers. Our Colombia hurts in this violence that does not rest, destroys hope and prevents us from moving forward. Sadness. RIP”

Now, María Fernanda Cabal, senator, candidate and party companion of Uribe Turbay reacted ensuring that “my heart and my prayers are with her family and loved ones. That God grants them strength at this time of immense sadness.”

Cabal added that today Colombia loses a “complete” man with the capacities and commitment to help build a better country. “God receives him in his glory and, from wherever he is, inspires us to continue reconstructing this nation that today faces his worst times of violence. Miguel, your example will be the engine to fight tirelessly for Colombia”He said.

For his part, Claudia López lamented the death of Miguel Uribe giving a message about the fault he will make among his relatives, and giving a moving message to his wife and children. “Maria Claudia and María Carolina Hoyos, her children, the whole family and friends of Miguel my condolences and hug at this time so painful and difficult. No Colombian family has to go through this and less repeat tragedies that we must overcome once and for all. Miguel’s crime cannot be unpunished, for him and his family and throughout the country justice must act in a timely and implacable way against all those involved”

Additionally, López said that Colombia hurts every act of violence that “snatches” lives, democracy and future. “Above differences we have to unite to defend democracy and fight and reject violence. That God give us wisdom to overcome this violence and go forward.”

Likewise, Mauricio Cárdenas said that “The death of Miguel Uribe enluta to the entire nation. To surround his family that he has suffered so much. Miguel represented the hope of a generation that wants to get this country forward. We are not going to leave those who want to return it to the past. We are many more Colombians who identify with the values and dreams for which Miguel fought. We will join”

Also, María José Pizarro referred to the death of the candidate ensuring expressing her message of solidarity. “Miguel Uribe Turbay represented ideas other than mine, but his voice had to be respected in the democratic scenario. Dispostrid minorities continue to kill, they only understand the language of violence and seek to influence the destinies of the nation with blood blows”

He added that Colombia requires justice to advance in investigations and not allow impunity to return. “Only with truth and justice will be eradicated the political violence that has ended the life of Miguel Uribe Turbay and so many political leaders who had much to contribute to this society,” he said.

Another candidate who reacted to the death of Miguel Uribe was Juan Manuel Galán. In his social networks he posted: “They snatched Miguel Uribe. There is no cause or ideology that justifies silence a life with bullets. Colombia cannot continue normalizing horror. That your memory forces us to build a country where to dissent is not a death sentence. My prayers for him and his family“

In addition, Gustavo Bolívar also referred to the news expressing a message of solidarity and rejection of the murderers of candidates Uribe Turbay. “Miguel Uribe has died.
