A total of 5,086 kilos with 47 grams of marijuana were seized by members of the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB) in two procedures carried out in the Caname channel, Atabapo municipality (San Fernando de Atabapo), Amazonas state, according to military sources.
In a first procedure, the military located in a state of abandonment in the aforementioned Amazonian canal 114 bags inside which 3,397 panels of marijuana rested, which yielded a total weight of 3,617.016 kilos of the aforementioned drug, according to a report from Detachment 632 of the GNB.
In a second procedure carried out in that same Amazon channel, military agents found 1,421 panels of marijuana, weighing 1,469.031 kilos, according to the report of Detachment 632 of the GNB.
The preliminary reports do not refer to people detained for these seizures.
Before these two procedures, the last large shipment of drugs seized was 3 tons of cocaine that was seized at the air customs of the Simón Bolívar International Airport located in Maiquetía, La Guaira state, on August 22.
This drug was camouflaged in coffee packaging and would be sent to the Republic of Afghanistan on a Conviasa plane, an action that was thwarted by the GNB. For this incident, 11 people were arrested, according to the report to which we had partial access.
