G/D Rafael Prieto Martínez, head of the Integral Defense Operational Zone (Zodi) Lara reported that two citizens were captured for drug possession in the vehicle where they were traveling.
These are two men, one 33 and the other 36 years old, who were detained by officials of the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB) at the “Simón Planas” Citizen Attention Post, located on the Lara highway (Barquisimeto ) – Portuguese (Guanare).
The arrested were aboard a Chevrolet brand vehicle, Aveo model, coming from the Portuguesa state bound for Barquisimeto.
Prieto Martínez offered the data on the morning of this Monday, January 16, in the company of the Commander of Zone No. 12 of the GNB, G/B Elvis Durán Lobo.
The military authorities specified that the procedure was carried out within the framework of Operation Bolivarian Shield 2023, which began “successfully” in the entity.
Prieto Martínez explained that troops attached to the third company of detachment No. 123 of Command 12 Lara and URIA-12 (Lara), in citizen security and profiling tasks, carried out a routine verification of vehicles, and “noted a suspicious attitude in the citizens upon being reviewed by officials, where they realized that inside the vehicle they were secretly transporting 06 panels of alleged drug called marijuana, with a gross weight of 3,226 kilograms.
The final destination for the delivery of the narcotics was the city of Barquisimeto, “but thanks to the anti-drug expertise of the GNB troops they could not achieve their objective,” the spokespersons said in an institutional note.
Second procedure of the year
The head of the ZODI Lara said that it is the second procedure carried out in less than a week, during this new year, carried out by the Bolivarian National Guard in the Citizen Service Points adjacent to the neighboring states of Lara.
The action constitutes a sample of the work and commitment of the FANB and the Citizen Security Organizations that are active in the state, said Prieto Martinez.
Likewise, it was learned that the procedure was ordered by the Prosecutor’s Office with jurisdiction over drugs of the Public Ministry (MP), Lara state.
The spokesmen stressed that “the Territorial Defense System in the state is forcefully committed to the frontal and radical fight against the drug trafficking mafias.”
