Glory invested around S/1.2 million in the acquisition of solar technology. For the remainder of 2024, the company plans to double its investment and install another 30 tanks in Arequipa.

The company also revealed that it has begun testing in Cajamarca to evaluate a possible territorial expansion of the project.
With this initiative, which started in Majes (Arequipa) in mid-2023, 30 500-liter tanks have already been installed that run on electricity generated by solar panels, also provided by the company, and which represent zero operating costs, in addition to being environmentally friendly.
“Without a doubt, the incorporation of this modern equipment has multiple benefits; on the one hand, the milk is kept in optimal refrigeration conditions (less than 4 degrees), ensuring better quality, which translates into higher income for the farmer. While, on the other hand, it promotes the continuity of the beneficiaries’ livestock business by improving their prospects and income, both for current farmers and future generations,” explained Dieter Uslar, Gloria’s Livestock Development Manager.
The adoption of these tanks has allowed them to change old routines, which impacts their production and quality of life, considering that they can vary their milking schedules and not worry about transporting them in trucks, since the tanker reaches their stable and takes the milk directly from the tank.
“Milk is a product where a large number of microorganisms can develop and therefore it is highly perishable. When it is extracted from the cow (it comes out at 37 degrees Celsius) and left at room temperature, it can spoil in a short time. Therefore, with this benefit, the farmer has equipment that allows him to maintain its quality for at least 48 hours,” said the executive.
This action is part of the company’s Livestock Development strategy, which includes technical assistance, financing, training, livestock feed, genetics for cows, among others, in which Gloria has invested more than S/ 718 million between 2012 and 2023.
