Avianca adjusts its operation due to technical work required for its A320 fleet and reorganizes trips while it implements the updates.
Avianca reported which received a notification from Airbus about the need to apply an urgent software update to a significant portion of the A320 family aircraft globally. The instruction establishes that the affected aircraft must remain on the ground until the required work is completed, a measure that impacts more than 70% of the airline’s fleet.
According to the communication, tasks will start immediatelyin compliance with the manufacturer’s guidelines. However, the process will generate relevant disruptions in operations during the next ten days.

As part of the measures to mitigate the impact, Avianca decided close sales until December 8 in order to avoid an increase in demand and facilitate the rearrangement of travelers on available flights.
The airline indicated that it will directly notify affected passengers, providing them with information about the alternatives available to modify or adjust their travel plans.
In the statement, the company noted that the priority is to maintain security of passengers and equipment, so the instructions issued by Airbus will be followed without delay. Once the software modifications are complete, the airline hopes to fully resume operations.
