The Minister of Institutional Relations, Gleisi Hoffman, criticized on Tuesday (9) statement by the United States government that the country could use its “military power” to retaliate Brazil because of the trial of former President Jair Bolsonaro.
Earlier, White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt said President Donald Trump does not fear using “military means” in defense of freedom of expression in the world.
In a post on social networks, The minister said she came to the “cumulus” the “conspiracy of the Bolsonaro family against Brazil”pointing to the articulation led by federal deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro for the US to sanction Brazil.
“The rates against our exports are not enough, illegal sanctions against government ministers, the Supreme Court and their families, now threaten to invade Brazil to deliver Jair Bolsonaro from jail. This is totally inadmissible,” the minister said.
She also defended the revocation of the federal deputy, son of former President Jair Bolsonaro.
“They still say they are advocating” freedom of expression. “Only if it is the freedom to lie, to coerce justice and to plot a coup d’état; these are the crimes for which Bolsonaro and their accomplices are being tried in due process of law,” he added.

Spokesman Karoline Leavitt said she had no “additional actions” against Brazil to anticipate.
“The president is not afraid to use economic power, the military power of the United States of America to protect freedom of expression in the world,” he said, after being asked about the adoption of new sanctions to Brazil because of a possible condemnation of Jair Bolsonaro.
