Glamor slump on social media

Glamor slump on social media

In this article, based on the latest reports from the National Police, to date, there have been 48 cases of suicide in the country, alarming data that deserves to address and pay attention to “hidden and/or disguised depression”. on social media.”

In this time, the use of social networks has become poisonous, and treacherous for mental health, in terms of: misuse, confusion, social comparison, economic and sentimental frustrations, internal voids such as: lack of affect, are some destructive patterns that contribute to feeding emotions of anguish, sadness, where tension, envy, rage, anger, a mixture of emotions that leads to depression. This problem, in which they try to overlap, hide, and that behind social networks, demonstrate a farce, like that of a glamorous life, a life of social well-being, an overvalued life, very far from reality.

In this regard, I highlight some of the behavioral traits that should alert us and that it could be “a hidden and/or disguised depression”, such as:

-The individual has difficulty in recognizing and showing himself as he is, tends to idealize other people from what he sees on social networks, does not achieve self-acceptance, enters a trance of low self-esteem and tries to compete socially.

-He pretends to show what he doesn’t have, all for show. He falls into debt for travel, for social outings, to compete with others.

-He exaggerates and overstates his state of well-being, sells an image of a united and happy couple and family on his network profile, and of total success.

-He exaggeratedly demonstrates full happiness, so much so that when you ask him he answers: I feel great!, however, he is in a trance of depression.

-He publishes “pure meals”, practically everything he consumes in the day, quite the opposite, to reality, he leads a disorderly eating life; anxiety: she is very friendly with depression.

-He is aware of the publications of others, so much so that his emotions are affected, which are often negative, because they depend on the “likes”, the lifestyle and relationships of others. As they say: It has no life of its own.

-The posts reflect a bipolar state of mind, and as I mentioned before, of extreme “happiness and success”.

In summary, we must know that depression is seen on social networks, it is hidden behind that makeup, and that we must all be alert and help in time, let us be empathetic, and let us not leave those who are going through this disease alone. Let’s look a little further than what they demonstrate.

“Let’s take care of our mental health.”
